Russlands Krieg hat Ukraines Energieinfrastruktur massiv beschädigt: Strom- und Wärmenetze sind zerstört, die Versorgungssicherheit untergraben, strukturelle Schwächen im Sektor offen zutage getreten. Gleichzeitig hat die Krise Entwicklungen beschleunigt, die bereits im Gange waren: dezentrale erneuerbare Energieerzeugung, Energieautonomie für Gemeinden und kritische Infrastruktur sowie die dringend notwendige Reform veralteter Fernwärmesysteme. Die Herausforderung besteht jetzt nicht nur darin, Zerstörtes wiederherzustellen, sondern Ukraines Energiesystem grundlegend und nachhaltig zu transformieren.

Mit dieser dritten Veranstaltung aus der Reihe „Nachhaltiger Wiederaufbau“ am 27. Mai 2026 (14:00 – 15:15 Uhr) setzen wir unsere Kooperation mit der Build Ukraine Back Better (BUBB) Platform fort.

Keeping the Lights On: Energy Security and Strategic Resilience in Wartime Ukraine

Russia's war has caused extensive damage to Ukraine's electricity and heat infrastructure, undermining the reliability of essential energy services and exposing structural weaknesses across the sector. At the same time, the crisis has accelerated shifts already under way: a growing focus on decentralised renewable generation, energy autonomy for communities and critical infrastructure, and the urgent need to reform district heating systems long affected by underinvestment. The challenge today is not only to restore what has been destroyed – but to transform Ukraine's energy system in line with principles of sustainability, security and long-term resilience.

With this third event of our series on „Sustainable Reconstruction“ on 27 May 2026 (14:00 – 15:15), we continue our cooperation with the Build Ukraine Back Better (BUBB) Platform. Together with Ukrainian and German experts, we will discuss sustainable recovery pathways based on BUBB's Roadmap for the Sustainable Recovery of Ukraine — Build Ukraine Back Better.
